My Story

Alternative health is a second career for me. This new career became necessary as our family suffered through much grief and pain trying to navigate the medical system and find relief for health issues.  I have an ME and a Reading Specialist Certificate from Texas Tech University, and I taught public school for several years. I then became a mother of four children and home-schooled all of them for 20 years. Unfortunately,  when it came to health, I brought all my kids up in the typical American way, using antibiotics whenever the doctor said I should, etc. I did have moments of wisdom....such as when the dermatologist told me to use this horrible smelling cream on my 1 year old's head overnight (to cure an awful scalp issue), I had enough sense to put it on for only 20 minutes and rinse it off.....Or, when the gynecologist told me she'd need to put my 16 year old on the pill to regulate her periods (after a 60 second consultation-I kid you not!).....Or, the time the Neurologist told another daughter and me that if she "wasn't feeling better in 3 weeks," he wanted to put her on antidepressants (he was implying all her pain was in her head). I said, "Uh...NO!"  It took us three years, but we eventually found she had Lyme Disease.

At this point, all three of our adult daughters have been diagnosed with Lyme, first through Electro-Dermal Screening and then through the  IGeneX labs. I myself have been diagnosed with Lyme using several different EDS devices.

All these crazy, frustrating experiences at doctor's offices caused me to look elsewhere, searching for alternatives for diagnosis and care. I found EDS in 2007 and then became a EDS Certified Technician in June 2011. Since then I have been continuing to pursue education in alternative, holistic, and complimentary healthcare by taking all sorts of seminars, symposiums, workshops, and classes. In 2015 I enrolled in Functional Nutrition Alliance's Digestive Intensive which has been a gold mine of information and knowledge for me.  In December 2016 I graduated from FNX's complete program Full Body Systems, and I have now also become a Certified Nutritional Consultant (CNC).

Before discovering Digestive Intensive, I had been through the gauntlet of allergy/eczema/ anti-Candida  diets in search of relief for one of my daughters who had major skin issues.  I was "forced" to study nutrition and experiment with multiple diets to try to find her some relief. The lesson I learned is that there is no "perfect" diet for everyone (but don't tell the GAPS people I said that, please).  But in  hindsight all that "forced" schooling was great knowledge to have, and I had  realized a "revolutionary" thing: people need to heal their digestive system no matter what their health or mental issue is because digestive health is the Core and Key to the health in one's entire body and mind!

As you can see, my family's "Avenue to Wellness" has been a long and winding road with many, many bumps and potholes. We are still traveling it, of course.  Besides Lyme Disease and major eczema, we have dealt with cancer, depression, pancreatitis, reflux,  Leaky Gut, Candida/fungus, among other things. Allopathic doctors have been (and will be) necessary and valuable to our family, but we are choosing to walk our avenue to wellness as alternatively and naturally as possible now.

One more quick, but extremely important thing you need to know about me. I have a Biblical Worldview...which means I see the world and health through Biblically colored eye-glasses. I totally attribute the absolute amazing-ness of the human body to God, the Creator and Sustainer, and I constantly consult one-on-one with Him about my clients. He describes Himself as LOVE and that is how I seek to live my life and relate to my clients....with LOVE. I also commit to pray often for my clients. It is a FREE service I offer that is highly effective.
